Racial slur written on CDOT sign

Someone broke into a message board used to update motorists on the Congress Parkway Construction Project and wrote a vulgar message that included a racial slur.

That message was broadcast during the Friday morning commute.

The Chicago Department of Transportation was called and crews turned off the sign on southbound Clark Street at Congress Parkway. They say someone broke the lock and accessed the computer to write the comments.

Officials say there are several surveillance cameras in the area that will be used in the investigation.
