Authorities say they found Kenneth Taylor and Moneet Baker with gunshot wounds in a vehicle Friday afternoon at East 81st Street and South Cottage Grove.
Police chased two suspects, whom they say first fled in a vehicle then got out and ran. The chase ended at 86th Street and Ingleside.
Officers had a gun battle with at least one offender.
A woman in the neighborhood said the shooting was very upsetting.
"Because you've got so much killing and so much gunfire and shooting in the area. It's a sad thing. It's just sadness," said Michele Stanton. "This is devastating this community. It's horrific. "
At one point, police shut down Metra tracks in the area while they searched for the suspects.
There was no word Saturday on their identities.
