Alderman Danny Solis made the announcement Sunday morning before the annual Bike the 25th Ward event. The new bike lane will run along 18th Street from Clinton to Clark.
Solis says the new bike lane offers several benefits including increased safety and providing a connection to the lakefront path.
"I'm looking forward to it. Make sure you take your friends and neighbors out there to do some bike riding," Solis said.
Work on the bike lane is scheduled to begin next month. It should be completed in November.
