There been a major effort for years to find out if a patient's own stem cells can help revitalize hearts damaged by a heart attack.

The treatment idea got a boost from three studies presented Monday at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association.

Cardiologist heard how infusing bone marrow stem cells into the heat soon after a heart attack might improve survival. They were also told how cardiac stem cells might help patients battle heart failure.
