A snowy owl that was injured last fall near Hampshire, Ill., is now flying in the wild again.

The bird was released Monday at Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve near Bartlett.

In November, an SUV struck the owl and the bird got caught in the vehicle's grill. The bird suffered several injuries and was taken to Willowbrook Wildlife Center, which is run by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District.

Willowbrook staff got the owl ready to return to the wild and the bird is now expected to head north.
