Indiana passes state-wide smoking ban

Indiana could soon have new state-wide smoking ban after the Senate passed the bill Friday 28-22.

The law would still allow smoking in bars, gambling facilities, tobacco shops and many private clubs.

Public health advocates say the measure is too weak, but lawmakers say it's better to approve some type of ban now and come back for more extensive restrictions later.

Governor Mitch Daniels has said he would sign the bill into law if it got to his desk.
