Stripper pole on the pulpit? Pastor uses controversial prop

A stripper pole behind the pulpit? Not exactly traditional for a church, but an Ohio pastor is all about pushing the limits to connect with his congregation.

People recently packed the Light of the Word Ministries in White Oak, Ohio, to hear Pastor Mike Scruggs. He had a sermon series called "The Battle of the Sexes."

The series used some interesting props with a bed in the center. But on one side was a stripper pole, video games and sports. While on the other side was candy, teddy bears, roses and neatness.

Scruggs says he wants to focus on real situations, bring godly solutions, and that it's more than provocative sermon titles.

"We push the envelope, that's true," said Scruggs. "I definitely do not want people to take things out of context because I think people in general have a tendency to just take one piece and say okay well he's going to hell, he's wrong. We want to talk about it. We don't want them to guess at it or assume certain things."

Scruggs' church has also been involved in outreach programs including a gas giveaway and a gun buyback project.
