Mayor to announce South Loop investment projects as new Mariano's grocery store built

The mayor was set to speak from Weather Mark Tavern on South Michigan Avenue. According to a news release, Emanuel will announce that more than $65 million is being invested by the city, the Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Schools in infrastructure projects.

Also in the South Loop Friday, a groundbreaking ceremony was set for the new Mariano's grocery store. Construction already started on at 16th Street and Clark.

The store, which is owned by Roundy's Supermarkets, is expected to open next fall and create 450 jobs.
