Even just a drink a day can increase your risk of developing cancer.

Alcohol use accounted for roughly three and half-percent of all cancer deaths in the United States in 2009, according to a study in the "American Journal of Public Health".

Nearly 20,000 Americans lost their lives to cancer in 2009 as a result of drinking.

Breast cancer accounted for most of the alcohol-attributed cancer deaths in women.

Despite the number, the link between alcohol and cancer death is not well-known.
