Easter marks end to man's Lent beer-water diet

April 21, 2011

Jay Wilson says he wants to live on beer and water just like Franciscan monks did centuries ago.

Wilson says his energy level is high but living on liquids has its downfalls. He admits he doesn't get a lot of sleep while going to the bathroom at least four times overnight. He drinks just five beers a day and swears he hasn't cheated with food.

"There were a couple of days where I felt, you know, grrr, hunger pain. You know, two o'clock in the afternoon, grrr, I could go for some lunch right now. Four o'clock, there it is again," Wilson said. "I've lost 22 and a half pounds, I think, as of today."

Wilson went from 160 pounds down to 137. Most of the weight came off the first week. When his beer diet comes to an end this Easter Sunday, Wilson says he's eating a bacon cheeseburger.
