Try walnuts to cut cholesterol

April 14, 2009 A new study found that eating walnuts can be even more effective than eating fish in reducing cholesterol levels, especially LDL, or bad cholesterol.

The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, shows that in healthy individuals walnuts lower cholesterol more than fatty fish, such as salmon. However, both contain omega-3 fatty acids, known to be good for the heart.

To protect your heart, researchers recommend including both walnuts and fatty fish in your diet.
