Fire hazard forces BMW to recall 32,000 vehicles

October 31, 2011

The automaker says the affected vehicles are all from the 2008 to 2011 model years. They include the 5 Series, 5 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, and the X5 and X6 models equipped with turbocharged 8- or 12-cylinder engines.

BMW says the problem is related to a circuit board for an auxiliary water pump that cools the turbocharger. It can overheat and cause a fire.
