Man shot to death in alley near Midway airport: CPD
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. at the 5200- block of South Central Avenue near 52nd Street, a few blocks from Midway airport.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- 16 people were shot, three fatally, in weekend gun violence across Chicago, police said.





A man was shot and killed on Friday in the 4600-block of West Maypole Avenue about 6:45 p.m. in West Garfield Park.



Sean Bailey, 45, was shot in the head, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.



One person was taken to the Harrison District station for questioning, police said. A weapon was found at the scene.



On Saturday, a man was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting near 75th and Stony Island.


Chicago police said the men were in a parking lot when someone shot them.



A 23-year old man was shot in the legs and was critically injured, police said. A 38-year-old man was shot in the chest and died from his injuries.



Police have not made any arrests. area detectives continue to investigate.



On Sunday, a man died after being shot in an alley in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood, according to Chicago police.



The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. at the 5200-block of South Central Avenue near 52nd Street, a few blocks from Midway airport.



The 27-year-old man was in the alley when a black truck drove up, and an unknown number of people inside started to shoot at the man.



The victim was shot in the right side of the chest. He later died at the hospital.



No one is in custody, Area One detectives are investigating.



Hours later, a teen boy was injured in a South Side shooting on Sunday morning, Chicago police said.



Police said the shooting happened in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood's 7700 block of South Laflin Street just after 10 a.m.



A 16-year-old boy was outside when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. The teen, shot in his knee, was transported to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition.



Area Two detectives are investigating.



Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
